  1. If at all possible, try before you buy.
  2. Ask your friends who have computers what they think, have them show you how they use theirs.
  3. The three major groups of computers are Personal Computers (PCs), Apple Macintoshes (Macs) and WebTV / MSN TV. Each has pros and cons. On campus all three are available for trying, for free. They are in one or more of these locations: Vista Library (Mac & Web), Vista Computer Room behind front desk (PC & Mac), Vista 136 (PC including IN2L),Perla TV room (Web), Perla Library (PC & Mac), Perla Mogollon Room (PC).
  4. IN2L stands for Its Never Too Late. This is a hybrid PC built especially for those who have disabilities - mental or physical. Contact the head of the Computer Users Group (CUG) for more info on this. You can learn more from the web at www.IN2L.org. This system is intended for more use in Assisted Living and La Hacienda.
  5. If you want a good looking computer with no wires and minimal security concerns, the newer Macs are highly recommended. There is an Apple Store at La Encantada mall in Tucson (Sunrise & Campbell). Take a look. Macs do audio and video quite well. Simutek in Tucson provides good support. The Monday question and answer (Q&A) sessions at the Admin Learning Center at 4pm is a good place to come talk about these.
